The documentation of German TV "WDR" with the title "Electric Cars: How they are destroying the environment" from June 4, 2019 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aS_xTJmzdgA)

shows clearly that the region of the Kolla in Argentina in Jujuy Province is in high danger because the salt lakes of the Kolla region are victims of lithium mining for car batteries of electric cars. The price of lithium has already increased sevenfold thanks to Tesla's e-cars. The water under the salt crusts is pumped off, evaporates on large surfaces and by means of chemical substances (lime, caustic soda, potash) the lithium is separated from the remaining mass. There are dramatic consequences for the population of the region:

1) The rare groundwater of the high Andean region (4000m) is "diverted" to replenish the salt lakes so the groundwater level is sinking dramaticly and the springs on the surface dry up.

2) The chemical substances (lime, caustic soda, potash) are blown by the wind and are poisoning with their combination effect the air, so that the lamas of the farmers often go blind.

NO INSPECTION: Without water and with poison air, the existence of the Kolla is totally destroyed. The e-car builders do not (yet) know anything about this because the corporations are relinquishing all responsibility to their suppliers, without controlling the situation with the Kolla at all.

CORRUPTION: In addition, the regional government of Jujuy in Argentina is involved in mining companies (these are the companies: "Sales de Jujuy" or "Minera Exar"), so the government is promoting lithium mining and awards lithium-mining licenses WITHOUT asking the population. This violates all human rights and lawsuits in Buenos Aires have already stopped test drilling "provisionally". There are constantly demonstrations and roads are blocked.

EVERYTHING WILL BE DESERTED: Not only that: If the industry and the government of Argentina continue like this, the groundwater in the high Andean region will completely disappear and the salt lakes will soon no longer be replenished elsewhere. Then will not only be a desert, but then all industries have to let be lithium batteries for ever because no lithium can be mined any more. What will be so?

CHINA WILL ALSO BE DESTROYED: The mining of rare earths in China has serious consequences with the destruction of entire regions, including groundwater poisoning.

Fuel cell, compressed air or water motor instead of E-car

The problem can be easily solved NOT building e-cars any more (which are not safe anyway), but fuel cell cars can be (Wik.link Engl.), or cars with compressed air (Wik.link Engl.), or also cars with simple water motor. Tesla boss Musk has to change to produce environmentally friendly and safe fuel cell cars, or compressed air cars, or water cars, as also BMW, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, etc. According to recent reports, China has already planned to switch to the fuel cell (News from the Austrian Crown Newspaper "Kronenzeitung" of June 8, 2019: Finish with subsidies: e-cars in China are braked now - new credo: hydrogen - https://www.krone.at/1937484).

Woman film speaker: Batteries need lithium, 60% come from South "America" from the high Andes of the natives of the Kolla (Wik.link Engl.), in the province Jujuy (Wik.link Engl.), where it hardly rains. When more and more mining is used and the scarce water is used for mining, nothing remains for the population, so it does not work (5'37 '').

[Altogether, the Kolla natives live in the high Andes of Argentina, Chile and Bolivia (Link Wi.Engl.), and everywhere there are salt lakes, and the global industry now wants to destroy EVERYTHING for the e-cars due to lithium. That's genocide! The film shows an example in Argentina]:

The propaganda of the mining company "Sales de Jujuy" claims:
"First plant for lithium mining from Jujuy for the world"
("Primera Planta de Carbonato de Litio de Jujuy para el mundo")

And all groundwater destruction and air contamination are concealed!

The lithium-water under the salt lakes - mining companies "Sales de Juijuy" or "Minera Exar" - gigantic pools, all the water is lost

Under a salt lake is salt water, and in this salt water, the lithium is dissolved (5'53 ''). The industry advertises billboards for lithium carbonate mining: "Primera Planta de Carbonato de Litio - de Jujuy para el mundo - Sales de Juijuy" (5'47 ''). First, there is a layer of dust, then a thick crust, and below that is the salt water, and the mining company "Exar" is pumping the salt water to the surface (5'59 ''). So now all salt lakes are being tapped (6'11 ''). The dimensions are thus e.g. a 450m deep well, the mining company brings out 55 liters of water per second (6'30 ''). The water is led into huge water basins, billions of liters of salt water are processed per year (6'47''). When the water has evaporated after 6 months, a concentrate with 6% lithium remains (7'1 "). This will then be further processed industrially (7'4 ''). Chemicals are added (7'12 '').

The separation of the lithium - 7 times price by Tesla - 1 ton of lithium = 14,000 "US" dollars

Martin Gasper: In the end, only the highly concentrated lithium remains (7'23 ''), for example with the mining company Minera Exar (7'27 ''). Now more and more salt lakes are drilled, in total the all salt lakes have an area as big as the German federal state of Hesse, and the price of lithium has increased sevenfold due to the high demand for electric cars (7'41 ''). Commentator: "Investors call it the White Gold." (7'44 '') - The final product is called "Lithium Carbonate" (7'50 "). 1 ton costs around 14,000 "US" dollars (8'0 ''), [so: 1 kg costs 140 "US" dollars] (8'6 '').

Lithium mining: The destruction of the salt lakes in the high Andes: Groundwater is refilling the salt lakes - groundwater streams are "diverted" - water sources dry up

There is a "gold rush atmosphere", but the salt lakes are destroyed. If the salt lakes are destroyed, the last water sources in the region are in danger (8'19 ''). The sparse groundwater is refilling the salt lakes, is mixing with the salt water, and so the groundwater becomes salty (8'40 ''). [The groundwater streams are DIVERTED and flow to the salt lakes. The groundwater level drops, and water sources on the surface dry up]. The salt lakes are millions of years old and the water content of the salt lakes is completely lost (8'54 '').

Scheme: The robbery of water in the salt

Scheme: The robbery of water in the salt lake causes that the groundwater is diverted refilling the salt lakes from below - salt water basins are dry with toxic brine with lithium in it (lithium carbonate), and the wind is contaminating all with toxic dust from there

Ground water level is sinking now and all small water sources on the surface are now DRYING UP!!! (9'9 '').

Film woman speaker: "But the population in the region of the salt lakes need the water urgently for their survival (8'59 ''), for their agriculture on barren soils, and for breeding of local llamas and goats (9'4 ''). Every liter counts (9'6 ''). But now whole springs are drying up (9'9 ''). "

Farmer Carlos Guzman: There, where lithium is mined in this way with the high loss of water, the agriculture is destroyed (9'14 '').

Lithium mining: Contamination of the region by toxic dust - llamas become BLIND of it (!!!)

Farmer Carlos Guzman: In addition, there are the chemicals that are used for the separation process. The wind distributes the toxic dust throughout the region (9'26 ''). There is lime, caustic soda, potash, and the combination effect is very aggressive (9'40 ''). The barren agriculture with the few plants here is affected, and the llamas suffer new diseases, e.g. they become blind:
"In some places our lamas go blind because of the dust." (9'51 '')

Woman film speaker: The blindness of the llamas by the poison dust was reported in several villages (10'7 ''). The llamas with wool and meat are the livelihoods of the farmers in the high Andes (10'7 ''). The Kolla have always lived in this region, even before the Incas came (10'15 ''). They have always survived, but lithium mining is now threatening their very existence (10'18 ''). Village Chief Romualdo Morales:

"The Kolla have always been connected to nature, to the salt lake, to the birds, to the lamas, so we say no to lithium mining." (10'40 '')

The e-car euphoria of Tesla and Musk - the battery as the big point - no one asks where the lithium comes from

Billionaire Musk with his Tesla company says lithium batteries should be built for his Tesla at the giant factory in Nevada (12'2 ''). And new battery factories are also under construction in New York and in China, so all this madness of e-cars is connected with batteries that need lithium, even in Europe (12'32 ''). The German car factories BMW, VW and Porsche think that by 2025, dozens of E models will be launched (13'21 ''). Daimler also believes that 10 billion euros of research "investment" in e-mobility is necessary (13'31 ''). The Merkel government promotes e-cars with all sorts of benefits and tricks (13'56 ''). All this is supported by a "panel of experts" (14'14 ''), it is called "National Platform Future of Mobility" ("Nationale Plattform Zukunft der Mobilität"), under the direction of Prof. Henning Kagermann [TU Braunschweig - Wik.link ( German)] (14'22 '').

Film woman speaker: The battery for the range is the sticking point, and the battery is gigantic large, so these e-cars are gigantically large (15'37 ''). BMW builds e-vehicles in Dingolfing (16'21 ''), and the plant is to be expanded (16'46 ''). 2025 should be 20% e-cars (17'0 ''). The need for batteries will increase more than tenfold, according to the fat bug from the Merkel government (17'15 '').

Economy of the Merkel censorship regime) says

Resistance to lithium mining: 33 communities in Argentina are demonstrating and launching lawsuits - Argentinian government gives land to the corporations away

Rin Conna Dias is already affected. Thirty-three communities have now joined to defend themselves against the corporations (17'43 ''). The warning of the organization "Bread for the World" ("Brot für die Welt"): 1 ton of lithium consumes 2 million liters of water - the government of Argentina distributes concessions without asking the population - pampa will become a desert

The [German] organization "Bread for the World" (Link) also warns of further lithium mining. Sarah Lincoln of Bread for the World:

The natives, the indigenous people are not asked, but their region is destroyed, as the colonialists from Spain did it (22'5 ''). The indigenous people do not really own the land, even though they have been farming it for centuries (22'19 ''). The land belongs to the government, and the government can do whatever it wants (22'24''). A farmer: If you get so much water out there in such a short time, then the pampa will turn into a real desert (22'38 ''). Narrator: Then nobody will be able to live here anymore, and the culture in the Pampas will disappear in a short time due to lithium mining (22'55 '').

Warnings about lithium mining from scientific circles in Europe: Physics professor Mr. Dr. Lesch

Physics professor Dr. Harald Lesch,
                        Munich
Physics professor Dr. Harald Lesch, Munich

Warnings also come from scientific circles in Europe, e.g. from Dr. Harald Lesch, physics professor [from the University of Munich]: First it was the oil being consumed without consideration, and now it is the lithium. The car makers seem to think, the raw materials are just "delivered" and don't care about the consequences (23'21 ''). Car manufacturers never want to have to do anything with the environment (23'36 '').

Lithium mining: The car companies give a questionnaire and in this way they give the responsibility to the suppliers

Regime
                        "expert" Henning Kagermann says that
                        the suppliers are responsible for
                        sustainability
Regime "expert" Henning Kagermann says that the suppliers are responsible for sustainability

As the "expert" Dr. Henning Kagermann says: The car industry has committed to transparency (24'11 ''). Film spokeswoman: The car makers are to control the suppliers, with a questionnaire the German car companies want to block depletion and cultural destruction by damaging mining of metals (25'19''). But the car factories don't know where lithium is coming from and how it's produced (25'43''). BMW car factory also admits that "for competitive reasons" transparency is not always possible:

"This is not always possible, especially when companies in the supply chain can not ensure full transparency for competitive reasons." (25'49 '')

(original German: "Dies ist nicht immer möglich. Gerade dann, wenn Unternehmen der Lieferkette aus Wettbewerbsgründen keine volle Transparenz gewährleisten können.")

In the villages of the high Andes in Argentina, however, never any representative of the car industry has come to inform himself about the environmental damage (26'0 '').

Romualdo Morales, village head: There are only representatives of the mining companies, who are ordering now what will happen here. Actually, the government should first consult the population before granting concessions (26'14 ''). The law clearly states that there must be a permit from the population before any drilling takes place (26'20 ''). Also the obligation for an environmental impact assessment (study) is not fulfilled by the regional government (26'26'').

Jujuy
Province: The preparation of saltwater basins is
destroying the Andes region - nothing will live
                        here anymore

Lithium mining: corruption between mining companies and Argentine government

The regional government of Jujuy is itself involved in the largest mining company (!) (26'34 '').

The comparison of the consumption of raw materials of the combustion car and the E-car

The NWO PowerShift for trade, raw materials and climate policy (Link (Engl.)) says:

PowerShift brochure comparing car motors   Merle Groneweg, PowerShift's
                        resource advisor
PowerShift brochure comparing car motors - Merle Groneweg, PowerShift's resource advisor

Merle Groneweg, resource solicitor of PowerShift: That should not remain with questionnaires, car makers can not just hand over their responsibility to the suppliers (27'2 ''). The car manufacturers have to control the production themselves, which is not done with a few check marks (27'8 '').

Physics professor Harald Lesch [from the University of Munich]: German economic policy simply "pushes away" on cultural destruction, environmental disasters and restrictions in other places (27'21 '').

Film spokeswoman: So it provokes collateral damage abroad to have better air in Germany (27'27 ''). Merkel's Environment Minister Svenja Schulze of the SPD claims that e-cars have less and less ecological footprint the longer the cars are driven, and that's why it pays off (27'44 '').

Environment Minister Svenia Schulze
says that e-cars are "more environmentally
friendly" at the end, Culture destruction
and genocide elsewhere does not matter for her

Battery production: The high power consumption for the production of e-car batteries

German e-cars are currently running with batteries from China and South Korea (27'52 ''). The power to produce comes from coal-fired power plants, and that's officially bad for the climate (28'1 ''). The production of a car battery is extremely energy-intensive (28'7 ''). There is a calculation from the Swedish IVL Institute [Swedish Environmental Institute Link Engl.]: for one kW of power of an e-car battery the production needs 150-200kg CO2 released (28'18 ''). 100 kilowatts of energy equals 17 tons of CO2 (28'30 ''). A mid-range car has already driven 100,000 km for the same CO2 emissions (28'39 ''). The expert from the regime Mr. Henning Kagermann simply indicates: With environmentally friendly electricity, the battery will be environmentally friendly again (29'0 '').

Production of a gasoline-diesel car is only half as burdensome as the production of an electric car - China destroys itself for" rare earths"

The Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy has come up with all the environmental burdens for an e-car battery: there is not only the destruction of the landscape in Argentina, but for "rare earths" China is also destroying entire regions (29'30 ' '). Chemicals and radioactive substances destroy the environment and pollute the groundwater at the Mongolian border region (29'37 '').

China is destroying entire
regions for E-cars due to the mining of
"rare earths" 1   China is destroying entire
regions for E-cars due to the mining of
                        "rare earths" 2
China is destroying entire regions for E-cars due to the mining of "rare earths" 1,2

An e-car also needs a lot of copper and cobalt and other hard-to-extract resources (29'43 '').

Wuppertal Institute for Climate Research   Manfred Fischedick from the
                        Wuppertal Institute
Wuppertal Institute for Climate Research - Manfred Fischedick from the Wuppertal Institute

Manfred Fischedick from the Wuppertal Institute for Climate Research: Overall, the material cost of an e-car is about twice as high as in a car with an internal combustion engine (29'53 ''), mainly because of the e-car battery (29'57 ''). In concrete terms:

Film spokeswoman: "For the production of an electric car twice as much environment is destroyed as for the production of a car with internal combustion engine." (30'3 '')

Graphic: The gasoline diesel car consumes copper, petroleum (plastic), steel, iron, platinum. The electric car needs: aluminum, graphite, copper, steel, nickel, petroleum (plastic), boron, lithium, iron, dysprosium, neodymium, platinum, manganese, cobalt (30'10 ''). The steel production for the gasoline-diesel car is not as damaging to the environment as the mining of the metals needed for the e-car battery (30'16 '').

Scheme: Comparison of the cost of materials
in the combustion car compared to the electric
car: electric cars are a disaster
Scheme: Comparison of the cost of materials in the combustion car compared to the electric car: electric cars are a disaster

Balance sheet: FINISH with E-cars!

The trend towards e-cars is therefore a "nonsense" (30'25 ''). You can not just replace the tank with a battery, that's too short thinking (30'33 ''). Physics professor Dr. Harald Lesch (Munich): The information on the origin of the metals are all concealed by the car industry until today (30'52 '').

[Good drive techniques without big environment intoxication for cars are: hydrogen fuel cell, pressed air, water motor].

Aachen (Germany): e-small car eGo

There is a little E-car produced with a range of 104km upwards with small e-car batteries from 14.9 kW (32'27 ''). With 25.000km the footprint of the petrol-diesel car is reached and then the car is "better" than the normal combustion motor car. On average, the range per day per person is only 39km anyway (32'53''). But even the eGo is produced with dirty metals (33'26 '').

Antwerp (Belgium): First battery recycling in Antwerp

In the town of Antwerp [in Belgium] there is a recycling company Umicore recycling "functional metals" from batteries, recovered cobalt, nickel, copper and lithium from batteries, so: with cobalt, nickel and copper at a recycling rate of 95%, with virtually no losses (33'52 "), for lithium with a recycling rate of over 50% (33'55 ''), but this can still increase (33'59 ''). The recycling process for lithium was only recently invented (34'15 '').

The sleeping EU does not know what a lithium battery is and there is no obligation of recycling for batteries (!) - Burning in Africa (!)

The EU has an outdated battery and recycling standard from 2006, lithium is not listed (34'56 ''). A regulation for recycling a battery is only 50% predetermined, and often valuable batteries are even simply shipped as garbage to Africa and burnt (35'20 ''), e.g. in Ghana and Nigeria, and everything is poisoned there again (35'29 ''). In Europe, only 10% of batteries are recycled so far, and politicians in Europe are sleeping (35'44 '').
